The Last Straw
By Elizabeth | May 25, 2007
The woman in this photo has had enough of being fat. The woman in this photo is willing to do anything. The woman in this photo is ready to count calories, limit fat, increase fiber, eat fruit and vegetables, whatever, whatever it takes. For as long as it takes. The woman in this photo is NOT, however, going to make any grand declarations about how much weight she is going to lose, how soon she is going to lose it, or make any promises of any kind. Because that is just asking for self-sabotage and failure. She would rather lose one pound and know that she lost it because she worked for it.
The woman in this photo is unhappy. All the time. She can’t go shopping for clothes because no one makes affordable clothes that fit her shape. She is tired, all the time. She gets out of breath carrying laundry baskets up the stairs, and her legs ache when she walks around the block. Her back hurts, her hips hurt, no wonder she is so tired. Her body is exhausted from carrying all that extra weight. And this morning, the woman in the photo decided she had had enough. She knows it is going to be harder than anything she has ever had to do, but she is going to do it. Because she’s worth it, her husband is worth it, her children are worth it. She knows there is a thinner, healthier, stronger woman inside the woman in this photo.
She’s going to find her.
