Fruity Waffle topping

Posted on July 16, 2007 by Elizabeth

I was in the mood for whole-grain waffles this morning, but I wanted something more substantial than sugar-free syrup on top.  I had a bit of frozen fruit left over, unsweetened blackberries, blueberries and raspberries, so I started by microwaving them until they were thawed and then sprinkling on a packet of Splenda and stirring it in.  To make it pourable over the waffles, I stirred in three big spoonfuls of Dannon Light & Fit Vanila yogurt, which is both fat and sugar-free, and delicious.  It turned the most interesting shade of hot pink-purple, and it was SO GOOD with the waffles.  If you like fruit and yogurt, try it!

sounds very yummy and I bet it would be good as a topping on the only 8 yogurt I just discovered too (only 32 calories a serving for frozen soft serve yogurt!)

Lady Rose- I tried that Only 8 frozen dessert at the ice cream shop near our house, and it was…okay. I’d rather save up and have a small scoop of their sugar-free butter pecan! But yes, the topping would be good on ice cream too!

My wife and I make waffles every morning (on the weekend, that is). We like to put ground flax seed in them. Recently, I’ve found myself tiring of syrup. I’ll have to try this. Thanks for the post!

You can do so much with waffles, a true belgian waffle is thick but a real nice belgian recipe that i created is using melted chocolate like the galaxy chocolate bar.

Just put the pieces of the chocolate bar in a bowl and melt the chocalate by putting the water in a bowl below heat up the water and then place the that has the chocalate pieces of galaxy and heat it up once melted it will be nice and hot just drip it on top of the waffles and be prepared for an awsome waffle, it may not be healthy but its dam lovely.
