Potatoes and Pizza-what are your favorites?
In the last few days, I have had two really delicious meals, one was a loaded baked potato from an pizza place, and the other was a really delicious pizza from a different pizza place!
The first place is Sir Pizza, it’s a Lansing chain that has been around for decades, and they have a gorgeous location in Old Town at the end of what used to be an automobile factory. It has exposed brick walls and beautifully worn hardwood floors, and the front end is soft couches and chairs with a bookshelf and a coffee bar, the back is tables for pizza eating. We went there the other night, and I just didn’t feel like pizza. As I was walking to the table, I glanced over and saw a lady eating the biggest baked potato I have ever seen, split open in a round foil pan, and covered with an array of delectable toppings. I asked her what it was, and she replied it was Sir Pizza’s “Royal Feast” toppings on a potato.
The Royal Feast is “A special blend” of pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions and green pepper, and the pepperoni is diced very finely and the sausage ground into bits so you get a bite of everything with each forkful. I devoured half the potato at dinner, and the rest I tipped into a casserole dish and warmed up for lunch the next day. Dee-lish-us!!
Then two nights ago we did order pizza, from a Lansing restaurant called DeLuca’s, it’s also been around for decades. There’s a line out the door for a table every night of the week (except Sunday when they are closed). I called for takeout, and for my pizza, I chose a ten inch deep dish crust, with spinach, ricotta cheese, cream sauce instead of pizza sauce, and veritable SHEETS of mozzarella on top. I got three meals out of that pizza because two small pieces were so filling. I could eat it every week!
So what are your favorite potato and pizza toppings?

My absolute favorite baked potato is loaded with butter, shredded beef bbq brisket, cheddar cheese, sour cream and chives. Yum! and now I’m hungry!

Lynne-I’ve never had a potato with shredded beef bbq on it, but that sounds delicious!

Not sure but I think bbq meat on baked potatoes might be a Texas thing. Some of the best I ever had were when we used to live in Houston, I still crave those and I haven’t had one in at least 10 years!

On the Weight Watchers CORE program, I can have baked potatoes, but not bread, so putting something like shredded beef on a potato would be a great option!

That’s good to know! I’ve been trying hard to keep my bread intake to a minimum. I do pretty good unless we go out to eat. I can’t resist those warm roles they put in front of me!
