I joined Weight Watchers today

By Elizabeth | September 19, 2007

Which means that for the foreseeable future, my recipes will be focusing on finding delicious ways to cook the foods on the approved CORE food list, and making side dishes, desserts, and snacks that are low in POINTS and still taste good to me and my family.

I feel really good about this decision! Besides the fact that I have a hella lot of weight to lose, I have gotten away from eating real food and have been consuming way too many snacks, junk food, and fast food. What I like about the WW CORE plan is the emphasis on lean meat, fresh fruits and veggies, fat-free dairy, and low glycemic index carbs. In other words, the kinds of foods that my doctors have been telling me to eat for years.

Weight Watchers has changed a LOT since the last time I joined. The program materials are fresh and easy to read and understand, and the membership program is such a great deal-I got free registration and a month of unlimited meetings plus access to the eTools, for $39.95 a month. Meetings are regularly $12.00 a week, and then you pay extra for the eTools, so it’s saving me money, too.

I’d love to hear from readers who are following either the CORE or Flex WW plans. I know there are tons of great WW blogs out there, and I want to read them! I want to know about recipe sites, blogs with meal plans, anything Weight Watchers related that you have come across. I can’t wait to get started!

WW is my mom’s “go to” diet. I tried it, flex points, a few months ago, and it works great! Now that the kids are back in school, it will be a little easier to stick to it. I hope it works great for you!
As a side note, for the past two days I haven’t been able to get on table4five. The side bars on the left come up, but nothing else. Any ideas?

Jenn-Could you check and see if Table for Five is coming up for you now? My hosting company got hit with a MySQL attack, and a whole bunch of blogs went down. I can see it fine in both Firefox and IE, let me know if you still can’t, please. Thanks!

Congratulations! I’ve been toying with the idea of joining too….

    Good luck!

I enjoy the WW online stuff, but have never been much of a “meeting” person. If it works for you, though, maybe I need to rethink my attitude.

Meanwhile, congratulations on taking a big step that’s going to be good for you!

Mimi-You should join, and then you can email me every night and make me put down the potato chips ;)

I’ve been thinking about getting back into the WW points plan. I was doing it for awhile at the beginning of the year, but it was really hard being on third shift, and I quit. I really need to get back into it though. I was doing it with just a calculator though, so I might look into buying an online membership. No meetings for me.
