Meal Plan, Jan 09-Jan 12
By Elizabeth | January 8, 2008
I’m sticking to my New Year’s resolution and making all of our meals from scratch through Saturday, with the exception of Friday night’s frozen pizza. Eventually I will tackle homemade pizza, just not this week. I planned out not just dinner, but also breakfast, lunch, and after-school snacks for the kids, because that way I know there will be enough food in the house to cover all meal situations. Otherwise my boys will just start inhaling the contents of the cupboards. Here’s the meal plan:
WEDNESDAY 1/09:
Breakfast: Pancakes, peaches/pears, milk
Lunch: Ham Sandwich, pretzels, apples, juice or milk
Dinner: Chicken Rice Divan, crescent rolls, steamed carrots
Snack: pudding, cheese and crackers
THURSDAY 1/10:
Breakfast: Cereal, bananas or apples, milk
Lunch: Turkey Roll-up, carrots & dip, Oatmeal Choc Chip cookies, juice
Dinner: Ranch Ham & Cheese Pasta, steamed peas, crockpot cake
Snack: Blueberry muffins and milk, pretzels
FRIDAY 1/11:
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, toast, peaches/pears, milk
Lunch: Tuna or Egg salad, chips, apples, milk
Dinner: Frozen pizza, carrots & dip, garlic bread
Snack: cashew-caramel brownies
SATURDAY 1/12:
Breakfast: Cereal and milk
Lunch: Pepperoni pizza rollups, salad with ranch
Dinner: Overnight Rotini bake, steamed broccoli, crescent rolls
SHOPPING LIST:
2 cans peaches, 2 cans pears
Milk
Ham and Turkey for sandwiches
Pretzels and Chips
Bananas and Apples
2 10 ounce pkgs frozen broccoli spears
Grated Cheddar cheese (large)
8 ounces shredded Colby-Jack cheese
1 ½ cups Italian cheese blend
Frozen b/s chicken breast
2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
Lemon juice
2 cup sour cream
Rice
3 cans crescent rolls
Baby carrots (large bag)
Pudding
Snack crackers
1 ½ cups chopped nuts
Vanilla
Cereal
Flour tortillas for wraps
Veggie dip
Butter
Juice boxes (lemonade)
16 ounce box penne
8 ounce box rotini
2 envelopes ranch salad dressing mix
Frozen peas
Frozen blueberries
Tuna
Frozen pizza, Garlic bread
Pepperoni
String cheese
1 ½ lbs lean ground beef
28 ounce crushed tomatoes
2 heads broccoli
I came up with the menu by going through the giant pile of recipes I have torn out of magazines and printed from websites, because that’s another goal of mine this year-to actually make the recipes I save. I’m hoping to get through all of them this year, to either decide to make the recipe or throw the piece of paper away. It’s not like there won’t ever be another cooking magazine or recipe to print from a website!
If anyone wants any of the recipes I’ve listed in the Meal Plan, please email me at table4five AT gmail DOT com. Enjoy!

Fricken hosting - gotta check that out, I had a big ole comment and it sucked it away into suspend land for exceeding CPU usage.
Anyways, homemade is easy to made and could be fun for the kids. You get premade pizza dough in the egg aisle, pizza sauce which there is a lot to choose from in the sauce aisle and all of your cheeses, meats and veggies. They can put whatever they want on them. You could even cut the dough into pretty shapes and stuff and it cooks in less than 10 minutes.

That overnight rotini bake sounds very interesting. Maybe you’ll share that recipe here after you’ve tried it?

That is a long grocery list! We’ve gotten deeply into egg salad recently, because it’s cheap and yummy and loaded with protein.
I agree, you should share some of those recipes once you’ve tried them out.
