Four Foods on Friday

Published by Elizabeth at 1:30 am under Four Foods on Friday

Here are this week’s questions, with a theme of “white”. Is that a food? LOL

#1. What’s your favorite white beverage? If you don’t have one, what’s your favorite beverage with something white in it?
#2. What’s your favorite white gravy, sauce, condiment, dressing or topping?
#3. What’s your favorite white item from the refrigerated section?
#4. Share a recipe for something white.

And here are my answers:

#1. My family all drinks a glass of milk with dinner, every night. I know it’s important for me to get the calcium. Of course, my FAVORITE milk-based drink is the Mocha, otherwise known as espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate syrup. Yum!

#2. Favorite white condiment? Hellman’s Real Mayo. Favorite white dressing? Hidden Valley Ranch, which is good on EVERYTHING.

#3. I like Daisy brand sour cream, especially to dip Doritos in!

#4. For my “something white” recipe, I’m sharing my Creamy Italian Noodles, which everyone in my family devours and then licks their plates clean!

Creamy Italian Noodles

1 pkg. (8oz) wide egg noodles
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup Half and Half (regular or fat-free)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pkg. (0.7 oz) dry Italian salad dressing mix

Boil the noodles in plenty of salted water according to package directions. Drain in a colander, but don’t rinse! The starch on the noodles helps the rest of the ingredients stick. Dump the noodles into a big bowl and add the butter or margarine, stir gently until combined. Pour in the half and half, sprinkle on the cheese and the dry salad dressing mix, and stir together. Now, here comes the best part-taste the noodles and adjust the seasonings according to your taste. Add more parmesan cheese, sprinkle on some garlic powder, whatever you like. Serve immediately.

    WHITE CONDIMENT: Miracle Whip
WHITE ITEM FROM REFRIGERATED SECTION: Cool Whip
    WHITE RECIPE: Divinity
    In 2 qt saucepan put:
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup light corn syrup

    1/4 tsp salt

Cook and stir until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to boiling. Cook to hard – ball state (250 degrees) without stirring, wipe crystals from side now and then with damp cloth on fork. Remove from heat.
