Four Foods on Friday-May 30th 2008

This week’s FFoF meme has a theme of “Barbecue”, which is not something we do very often. But I’ll do my best to answer the questions!

#1. What is your favorite food that is cooked on the barbeque?
#2. What veggies, if any, do you cook on the barbeque?
#3. Tell us a little about your barbeque habits. Who grills, how often, what months, etc.
#4. Share a barbeque recipe.

#1-We use our barbecue for grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, and I like both of those.

#2-Veggies? On the grill? I mean, I know it’s possible, but no, we don’t cook veggies on the grill.

#3-Although I know there are die-hard grillers who use theirs all year round, we like it to be at least warm enough to stand outside without freezing our hands off, so we never start until Memorial Day, and we usually stop after Labor Day. My husband is the grillmaster in our house ;) And, it’s a weekends only.

#4-I suggest cooking my All-American Hamburgers on the grill, this is the recipe:

Put two pounds of ground round or sirloin into a big plastic bowl. Cover the surface with splashes of Worcestershire sauce. Sprinkle with dried minced onion, Seasoning salt, and garlic powder. Divide into six balls, then roll each ball in your hands until smooth. Smush the ball into a patty shape. Put each patty on a large dinner plate as you go, then cover them with plastic wrap and let chill in the fridge for a few hours if possible before cooking. This seems to help the patties stay together. Put a slice of american cheese on each patty as it comes off the grill, and serve on soft buns with your favorite toppings. YUM! Now I want a burger :)
