Four Foods on Friday #38

This week’s questions have to do with fruit, veggies, and, um, smells.

#1. Fruits and veggies. Do you prefer them peeled or not?
#2. What’s your favorite fresh fruit or vegetable smell?
#3. What’s the worst food smell you’ve ever smelled?
#4. Share the recipe for the dish that you love to smell cooking in your oven.

#1. Hmm, depends. I peel potatoes, but not carrots or cucumbers. Of course I peel oranges, but not apples or stone fruits like plums or nectarines.

#2. My favorite fruit smell is a perfectly ripe, sweet nectarine. Makes my mouth water!

#3. Worst food smell? When you find a sippy cup that had chocolate milk in it, then your toddler threw it behind the couch, and you find it a week later, and you open the top to wash it out? THAT is the worst smell EVER.

#4. I love the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven! I use the recipe on the Nestle Toll House Mini Morsels package:

# 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
# 1 teaspoon baking soda
# 1 teaspoon salt
# 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
# 3/4 cup granulated sugar
# 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
# 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
# 2 large eggs
# 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Morsels

PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
