Four Foods on Friday #43-the dreaming of Food Network edition

#1. What do you drink to rehydrate in the heat or after working out?

I know water is the best way to hydrate, but I love fountain Diet Coke over lots of ice when it’s hot!

#2. What do you eat to help boost or create energy?

I find that on mornings when I know I’ll need extra energy to get through my day, if I have a scrambled egg and a piece of light wheat toast, I feel more energized than if I just have cereal.

#3. What’s the healthiest snack you eat?

From “The G.I. Diet” by Rick Gallop, I layer fresh blueberries, Bran Buds, and sugar free yogurt into a bowl. It’s super-filling and calms down my ice cream cravings too.

#4. Share a recipe or instructions for your ideal three course meal.

My ideal three course meal would be prepared for me by Mario Batali and Giada DeLaurentis from Food Network.

First Course:Bruschetta Con Pomodori

Second Course:Baked Ziti with Meatballs. DISCLAIMER: I copied this recipe from Food Network.com. I made no changes to it at all. I have not made this recipe myself.

Third Course: I think these Chocolate-Hazelnut Smooches (get it? instead of Kisses? so cute!) would make a yummy simple dessert or lunch box treat, and like Giada, I LOVE Nutella.

And so I don’t forget where I saw it, here’s a great brown bag lunch recipe from Food Network.com:

1. I like to hydrate with water, gatorade or iced tea. Mostly Iced tea.

2. I’ve never really had a food that I’ve related to me being more energized. I should really figure this out though. Off the top of my head, I’d say Peanut Butter sandwiches on wheat bread.

3. Healthiest snack… I’m not much of a snacker. I’d say carrots or grapefruit.

4. My favorite 3 course meal would be Puerto Rican:

Apps: Don’t know what it’s called but it’s plantains stuffed with meat. It has an amazing dipping sauce. Gotta find it sometime.

Main Course: White Rice, Pink Beans, Grilled Marinated Chicken.

Dessert: Flan!

I feel better when I have protein for breakfast, too. Most mornings I will add raw pecans to my cereal or eat some type of nut.

Sheri- Some day when I’m rich and famous, I’m totally buying my own fountain pop machine! Why should convenience stores and McDonald’s get all my money? LOL
