Four Foods on Friday #44-The Potato Edition

Posted by: Elizabeth on Friday, August 29th, 2008

This week’s questions on Four Foods on Friday all have to do with potatoes. Mmmm, potatoes.

#1. Potato Chips. What kind of chips are your favorite?: I like Ruffles, or plain Lay’s Original chips.

#2. What’s your favorite thing to dip chips in?: Our local convenience store which is also a bakery and dairy (it’s been in Lansing for 150 years) makes their own french onion chip dip which is deliciously addictive.

#3. What’s your favorite way to eat a baked potato?: With butter, salt, sour cream, and chives!

#4. How do you make mashed potatoes?: Okay, I confess, 99% of the time, I buy Betty Crocker Instant Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and make those. They are just so easy! But once in a while I will boil peeled, cut up Michigan potates, then toss them with butter and mash them with fat free half n half. I like my mashed potatoes lumpy and my husband doesn’t, so I don’t make them often.

You can play along with the Four Foods on Friday meme even if you don’t write a food blog! Just get the information from Val at Fun, Crafts and Recipes.

I like lumpy mashed potatoes, too, so that’s how I fix them, and my family is OK with that. You’ll have to come have mashed potatoes at our house. :)

I do the same thing during the week, instant. (Have you tried the cheese flavor?) But if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll go to the trouble to mash with the skins on because this wahine doesn’t peel anymore! LOL

My favorite mashed potatoes are: steam quartered redskins with garlic cloves, mash them up and add chives!
