Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce

country bobs all purpose sauceIn 1968, “Country Bob” Edson perfected the recipe for an All Purpose sauce with a unique flavor and a wide variety of uses. It was just as delicious mixed into hamburger meat as it was as a dipping sauce for french fries. He gave it away to family and friends until 1977, when he began to sell it. By 1982, Country Bob, Inc. became a company with a corporate office in Centralia, Illinois. And while the product line has expanded to include BBQ Sauce and Seasoning Salt, it’s the All Purpose Sauce that continues to be the Country Bob’s star.

For this review, I received two bottles of All Purpose Sauce as well as a beautiful hardcover cookbook. The cookbook has recipes for appetizers, soup, snacks, main dishes, grilling, and even desserts. I used the sauce to replace the Worcestershire sauce called for in my All-American Burgers recipe, and then offered it to my family as a topper for their burgers instead of ketchup. It’s hard to describe the flavor of Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce, it’s got a similar texture to A-1, but it’s much sweeter. There’s also a Spicy version available.
