Four Foods on Friday #49
By Elizabeth | October 3, 2008
#1. Turnips. Love em or leave em? Unless there were turnips in some kind of stew or something that I ate, I have never eaten a turnip that I know of. What do they taste like?
#2. What’s your favorite roasted dish? Roast Turkey at Thanksgiving, definitely.
#3. Salsa. What kind do you like? We buy Pace Picante Sauce in “mild”. I’m not sure how it’s different than salsa, but it’s the one we like!
#4. Share directions on how to make your favorite quick meal, meaning start to finish in about 30 minutes or less. Spaghetti with Prego Mini Meatball sauce, garlic bread, corn:
Fill pot with water, cover, place on burner on high to bring to boil. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Add salt to boiling water then drop in spaghetti noodles. Set timer for 9 minutes. Put garlic bread in oven.
Open cans of corn, dump in corning dish, put in microwave for four minutes. Stir spaghetti. Pour Prego Mini Meatball sauce into a saucepan, cover, turn burner to medium-high.
When timer goes off for spaghetti, drain noodles. Take bread out of oven and corn out of microwave. Stir spaghetti sauce, check that it’s heated through, and dinner is served.

I didn’t read your answers until after I answered myself, we seem to have a lot in common!
1. I’ve never knowingly ate turnips. I’m sure I’ve had ‘em though.
2. Roasted anything is good - Turkey is my absolute favorite.
3. Salsa: Pace picante in medium. I’d love to try hot, but I’ve never seen it anywhere.
4. Quick recipe: Also spaghetti (but with barilla sauce). Another option, tacos. Which reminds me, when I worked at a grocery store as a cashier, I noticed most people who were purchasing meals for just that night were either purchasing the ingredients for spaghetti or tacos… but mostly spaghetti.

I cook every meal in our family; my husband is definitely not a cook. But he can handle spaghetti night! It’s delicious and I get a night off.

Y’know, I don’t think I’ve ever had a turnip either! I should really try one sometime!

Now that you mention it, I think I have had turnips in stew and it was pretty tasty. I’ve never thought of putting them in my stew, I need to remember that.
