It’s National Clean Out Your Fridge Day!

By Elizabeth | November 14, 2008

Did you know that Friday, November 14 is national clean out your fridge day? Yes, it’s true, this is a real day that started in 1995, dedicated to the chore most dread to undertake. With Thanksgiving around the corner, it’s the perfect time to make room for the turkey and all of the fixings. I thought you might be interested in getting some organizational tips from Frigidaire that will make cleaning and organizing your fridge a breeze:

• Toss anything that’s been around longer than a year.
• Have three cans of salsa or 2 bottles of ranch dressing in your fridge? Combine similar ingredients to make room.
• Wash down and disinfect the inside walls of the refrigerator, the shelves and all along the door seal.
• If you find yourself cleaning your fridge weekly instead of yearly, consider buying a new Frigidaire refrigerator. Some refrigerator models come with a PureAir™ Filter, a refrigerator filtration system that effectively neutralize the more acidic odors in your refrigerator. Frigidaire’s EasyCare™ Stainless Steel finish eliminates messy fingerprints.

Some of your readers may have been thinking about upgrading to an Energy Star certified model. They can find out exactly how much money they’ll save and if it’s worth the upgrade by using the energy savings calculator at FrigidaireEnergySavings.com.

I just checked my fridge, and it’s pretty clean. We’ve been using up what we have so there’s room in the fridge for Thanksgiving dinner foods, and my husband wiped the glass shelves off the other day. What about you? Could your fridge use a good cleaning??

Thanksgiving is coming. I’m ready to eat. Are you ready to eat? While I was reading this, I looked in my refrigerator. Who knows what’s in there. I know for a fact that I have ranch dressing that has been in there for the longest time. Looking at it now, it seems to have expired. Oh my, where does the time go! I will clean out my fridge this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

Mine is already pretty sparse. It could use a good wiping down, though, so I’ll get on it!

I got to do mine a few weeks ago after i accidently dumped an entire pitcher of my son’s pink lemonade through the whole fridge! What a mess!

Wow how weird we actually cleaned out or fridge the day before. We for some unknown reason had three bottles of grapefruit juice and like you said multiple salsas and ranch dressings. Cool!

Just stumbled across your blog, very good site!

I was just looking at my fridge today thinking I needed to get it cleaned before Thanksgiving. Time to purge those multiple dressings that you can never find. :)

Wow.. I didn’t know there was such a day. Seems like there are many lesser known days such as this! Going to mark this down and particpate next year.
