This week’s questions are about your kitchen utensils, dishes, and an easy recipe. Here we go!
#1. Are your Kitchen utensils nylon, silicone, wood or other?
I use an ancient set of black nylon utensils that I bought in a set at Target. I do really love my silicone spatula that Food buzz sent me though, seeing as how I’m melted the ends of a few plastic ones :)
#2. Do you prefer dishes washed in a dishwasher or by hand?
We have never had a dishwasher. So every night either Chris or I wash up the dishes, pots and pans, glasses, silverware. It doesn’t take that long.
#3. How many sets of dishes do you have?
We have an everyday set of dishes that I bought on sale at Target about 10 years ago, and our wedding china (Mikasa’s “Annette” pattern). We also have an assortment of cheapo plastic plates, small ones that I use for serving the kids breakfast and lunch.
#4. Share a recipe that calls for only one pot or pan.
Beef Stroganoff is my favorite one-pot meal, plus it’s one of my husband’s favorites.
1 pound ground beef, lean
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
10 3/4 ounces cream of mushroom soup, condensed
4 ounces mushroom stems and pieces, drained (optional)
3/4 cup sour cream, or yogurt
In medium skillet, brown ground beef and onion; drain excess fat. Stir in garlic salt, pepper, soup and mushrooms. Simmer covered, 15 to 20 minutes. Stir in sour cream; heat through, but do not boil. Serve over cooked egg noodles.

I make once a week a one pot recipe that changes everytime. I call it hobo soup and pretty much the recipe goes like this…
all realistic leftovers in the fridge, vegetables, meats, potatoes, etc..
add chicken or beef broth and throw in a pot for 2 hours. Ill even add some spiral noodles to fancy it up a little.
I know it doesn’t sound like much but it is a great way to get rid of leftovers and usually turns out very tasty.

Yumm! That sounds so good. I love one pot dishes because I also do not have a dishwasher. My dishwasher died.
I’ve never had a dishwasher, either. I actually like washing dishes, but I hate drying.
I make a recipe that’s pretty much the same as yours, except I usually just mix the noodles in. It’s so easy and good, and everyone seems to like it.

My favorite one pan recipe:
Spicy Sausage & Cream Soup
2-3 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup whipping cream
1 med. russet potatoe
2 cups kale
1/2 pound spicy sausage
1/4 salt
1/4 crushed red peppers
combine broth, cream, potatoes and kale in pot- Bring to a boil then reduce and simmer.
cook sausage then add sausage to stock- simmer for 2 hours.
I have let it cook for less than one hour before and it still tasted awesome!

I never had a dishwasher until I moved away after college. My sister and I were the dishwashers in our house.

You are right elizabeth that it doesn’take long for washing the dishes. I also wash up the dishes in just few minutes.

I’ve grown to like wooden utensils. In fact, that’s just about all I use. I do however have a silicone coated whisk that I love. It is perfect for continuous stirring when I make a cream pie.
i also love the classic utensils because its the quality that counts, same we washed our dishes with hands.
