Four Foods on Friday #70

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, this week’s questions from Fun, Crafts and Recipes (the home of Four Foods on Friday) are all about the color green and traditional St. Patrick’s Day foods.  Here are my answers!

#1. What’s your favorite green food?

Guacamole, green beans, fresh raw or steamed broccoli, romaine and leaf lettuce, steamed (from frozen) green peas. I like green food!

#2. Do you eat anything special on St Patrick’s Day?

No, and I should since I am part-Irish by birth and by adoption.

#3. Do you drink any Irish beverages – tea, coffee, ale, beer, etc?

My Mom visited Ireland one summer and came back with the recipe for Irish coffee.  Here’s a link from a bartending site that explains all of the steps to making a real Irish coffee (the use of a stemmed glass and a spoon is crucial).

And sometimes, when I have had an amazingly stressful week, on a Friday or Saturday night, my husband will make me a strong cup of coffee and pour a shot of Bailey’s into it.  It’s a GREAT stress reliever :)

#4. Share a recipe for corned beef.

I don’t have one! My Mom used to serve corned beef with cabbage, onions, carrots and potatoes on St. Patrick’s Day, but there isn’t a recipe in her recipe folder, so I found this one for New England Boiled Dinner from Elise at Simply Recipes. It looks pretty much like my Mom’s so I figure it’s pretty close!
