Menu Monday 5-16-11

I’m only planning half a week of meals this week because I’m going out of town on Friday and my husband likes to hit the grocery store and make up his own meal plan when I’m not home. We’re also on a tight budget again this week, so I’ll be swinging by Aldi later [...]

We woke up this morning to an inch of snow here in mid-Michigan, which really isn’t a surprise. It’s been known to snow in June! Nevertheless, it put a chill in the air that made me reconsider my weekly menu. I want warm and comforting meals this week!

We’re on a super-tight budget, so [...]

Menu Monday-week of Jan. 11

My husband flew to Montreal this morning and he’ll be gone until Thursday night.  When he’s not home, I cook things that the kids and I like but he doesn’t, so that’s reflected in this week’s menu. Here’s what I’m planning to make:

Monday: Cola Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans

Tuesday: Easy [...]

Menu Monday 4/13

Two words: Weight Watchers.  I get 23 POINTS a day. I adapted these menus from the 7-Day, 4-Weeks Menu Planner in the 2008 Weight Watchers Annual Recipes for Success cookbook. Each day I should get 2 servings of dairy and at least 5 servings of fruits/veggies.

I won’t limit the kids as far as [...]

A Few Days of Meals-and some Great News!

I can’t call this a true Menu Monday post, because our budget is so tight this week that we only purchased groceries for Sunday, today, and tomorrow. Chris will have to go out Wednesday after he gets paid and buy food for the rest of this week.  I won’t be here so I don’t know [...]

Menu Monday September 1-5

My boys start school tomorrow, which means my weekly menus will now include a brown bag lunch meal. Kaitlyn and I will eat the same things as the boys, just at home. My lunches this week are coming mainly from the book “Brown Bag Success-Making Lunches Your Kids Won’t Trade”, by Sandra K. Nissenberg, MS, [...]

Menu Monday-June 23 2008

You know what really helps? Knowing what your menu will be BEFORE 5:00 pm on Monday! I just seem to get less and less organized every week. It’s a good thing that Target sells frozen food now, because while I was there today buying toilet paper and Pull-Ups, I picked up tonight’s dinner. I [...]

“Don’t serve husband and wife’s lung slice”, Chinese government says

My husband’s alarm clock is set to go off by blaring our local National Public Radio station. Which means that as I cracked my eyelids open this morning, I heard a news report about the Chinese government sending a booklet to Beijing hotels suggesting better English translations for some of the food served in their [...]
